E-Commerce Kiosk
Kiosks with fragrance generating devices mounted inside will be a valuable tool when placed in department stores and linked back to fragrance manufacturers. An individual using the kiosk could select from 16 different scents or “fragrance nodes” in any combination and smell the newly created fragrance within seconds. For example, a fragrance consisting of 35% rose, 25% orange blossom, 20% ylang-ylang and 20% jasmine could be blended and tested by a potential consumer within seconds. The program could then ask the consumer their likes and dislikes of the created fragrance all the while the information is being recorded and sent back over the Internet to the manufacturer. This application could also be used in a market testing facility or even research lab.

Multiple products in this category will be in the future pipeline. A digital fragrance generating device located in one’s kitchen can be programmed from the car while driving home so that your newly created fragrance will fill the air upon your arrival. In addition, a mother’s scent can be programmed into an aroma generating device placed near a crib to help comfort a baby while sleeping. These are but two of many ideas under development.
Marketing and "Point of Sales" Tools
The next dimension to the Internet or your local grocery store will be the addition of aromas. Imagine walking down the aisle at your local grocery store. You walk by the baking section, in particular the boxed brownie section. Your movement triggers a sensor to emit the aroma of fresh baked brownies. Would this entice you to buy the brownies or even make you hungry for brownies? What about the same scenario with macaroni and cheese? The use of aromas can be very powerful and even more persuading than packaging alone.
Aroma generating devices will enhance the virtual reality experience. Mounting devices in the virtual reality headsets will deliver the aromas to the gamer in an unobtrusive way.
